History
As early as the Xia and Shang Dynasties (21st-11th century BC), Jiujiang was the capital of several states. In the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC - 476BC), it was on the borders of the Wu and Chu States. When it came to the Qin Dynasty (221BC - 207BC), Jiujiang was made one of the 36 Juns (prefectures) of ancient China. In its history of more than 2,000 years, Jiujiang changed its name at different times. In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) it became Jiujiang and has remained the same to this day.
