Resettled Dachang Ancient Village to Open to Public this May

The Dachang Ancient Village that has been reconstructed is to open to public in the coming May Day Holiday. Reports say that the project of moving the village to the new locus has been completed, and the Tourist Reception Center as well as other public service facilities is to be finished soon.

Dachang Ancient Village in Chongqing is of a history of 1,700 years. It is the biggest group of ancient architectures that were well kept. In order to keep the culture relics from being inundated caused by the construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir, a project of moving and relocating the whole village including 30 residential houses, three city gates and two temples since July, 2005. The new site rests in the middle reach of the Three Little Gorges. Followed the original layout with the original building materials, the ancient village stays what it was for visitors’ appreciation.
