Nantian Lake to Highlight the Wu Jiang Scenic Area, Chongqing
The construction of Nantian Lake in Fengdu County, Chongqing Municipality, is under its way. It is said that Nantian Lake is a key scenic spot that the local government plans to explore, which is hoped to highlight the Wujiang Scenic Area very soon.
Nantian Lake lies at the Wuling Mountains with an altitude of 1,900 meters (about 6,234 feet). Blessed with heavy forests and pleasant views, the lake, as an ecological tourist area, posts the best runaway for urbanites. Person involved says that a highroad leading to the lake is to be paved from Fengdu County.

'Flying Tigers' Tour Group Set Foot at Three Gorges Scenic Area Today
Members and their relatives of the 'Flying Tigers' and many fans of this special team had arrived China to follow and seek the track of the 'Flying Tiger' left during the Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945). Making up by more than 400 people, the tour group plans to visit the Wuhan City and the Three Gorges Scenic Area today.
Yesterday they visited the Hubei Provincial Museum and the Yellow Crane Tower. The Three Gorges Dam is their next stop. It is reported that the itinerary of the tour group included many cities like Beijing, Wuhan, Shanghai, Xian and Guilin. 'Flying Tiger' is the reinforcement from United States to China during the Anti-Japanese War. The tour groups of this kind have visited China for many times, which promote further communication between the two countries.

Yichang City to Launch International Dragon Boat Racing this May
According to the report, the racing begins on the Sanjiang Channel of the Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project right after an Opening Ceremony on 19th, May. Tournament race and Rally race are to be contained. The 500-meter Open Straight Speed Race will be held on 19th while the 35 kilometers Rally the next day. About 1,500 racers from overseas as well as Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan making up nearly 50 Dragon Boat teams are to compete on the occasion.
Many other activities are to be staged including entertainment, culture-focused programs and other sports items.

Resource Integration in the Three Gorges Scenic Area to Promote Tourism Development
Resource integration is carried through in Three Gorges Scenic Area to promote and optimize the tourism development in the dam area and the surrounding areas in Hubei Province. Joint efforts were made by China Three Gorges Project Corporation and the involved corporations to program new plans and projects.
The abovementioned cooperation is to make the Yiling District, Zigui County involve into the management of the Three Gorges Scenic Area. It is said that Sandouping (Three Gorges Dam site) in the Yiling District aims to be a 'Symbolic Tourist Town' and more scenic spots are to be exploited in association with the Zigui County.
The issue drew much attention by the government of the Hubei Province. Since the Three Gorges Scenic Area formally was awarded the 5A-grade Tourist Area, it is said that the provincial government would contribute with specific mount of money to promote the tourism development in Three Gorges area.

Tourist Center in the Three Gorges Tourist Area to Open in March, 2007
Tourism Department in Yichang City revealed that the Visitors Center invested by the Yichang government in the Three Gorges Tourist Area is expected to open in March, 2007.
Located close to the Yichang-huangshi Expressway in the Yichang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the Tourist Center holds the necessary way to the Three Gorges Dam and other scenic areas in the Yichang City. Covering an area of about 8,650 square meters (about 2.1 acres) the center integrates reception, traveling products retailing and dinning together to offer an easy and comfortable traveling experience.
Persons involved said that they will operate more than 12 tour itineraries in the Yichang City. It is said that the setup of the center will greatly promote the quality of the tourist services in Yichang City.

Three Gorges Dam listed as 5A-grade Tourist Area
The Three Gorges Dam was listed as one of the first group of 5A-grade Tourist Areas, revealed by the Three Gorges Tourism Corporation on March 2
nd, which now becomes the only industrial tourist item among all in the list.
The Three Gorges Dam applied for the title in April, 2006. And the evaluation of the whole setup was carried in December, 2006 by the National Tourism Administration. It is reported that very strict standards involved in the evaluation. For instance, the candidate must be 4A-grade Tourism Areas with annual tourists above 600,000 person-times, among which over 50, 000 should be oversea tourists.
