The Third Global Botanic Garden Congress to Held in Wuhan This AprilPublished : 4:21 A.M. EST, Mar 29, 2007 According to the Wuhan Botanical Garden Chinese Academy of Science, the 3rd Global Botanic Gardens Congress (GBGC) is to be held in Wuhan on 16-20 April, 2007. It is said, 1,000 delegates from about 100 countries worldwide will attend the meeting. 'Building a sustainable future: the role of botanic gardens' is the theme of the congress this year. The meeting is to discuss and share information and news about the activities, programs and advances in plant conservation, environmental education, and sustainable development they achieved in the past years. To better perform the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, the meeting is to make plans and guidelines for the next three years (2007-2010) in the fields of the botanic gardens worldwide.Global Botanic Garden Congress (GBGC), recognized as the primary international event for botanic gardens worldwide, is held every three years. The 3rd GBGC is organized by Chinese Academy of Science, Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), Hubei Provincial Government, and Wuhan Municipal Government. |
